It’s All About His Glory!

God is an amazing being that can’t be explained. He’s so complex that our simple minds can’t even begin to discern His ways.  Yet, there is one thing about God that He has made very clear, He desires the glory.  He is so serious about receiving the glory that He tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that EVERYTHING we do must be done for His glory.

As I go through the severest trial of my life I had to reflect upon what it is God is trying to do in this situation.  As I got into the word it became crystal clear, God wants the glory and everything He does is motivated by His desire to get the Glory.  As I begin to go through the word it quickly became clear that it ain’t about us!  God does what may appear like strange things simply to receive the glory. He loves us with an everlasting unexplainable love and through the receiving of His glory His love for us is further exemplified whether we understand it or not.  Here are a few examples of the things God does to get the glory.

  1.  We were created to give God glory.Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.”  Isaiah 43:7.  We were created for one purpose and one purpose alone, to bring God glory.  We were not formed and fashioned by the awesome God of the universe to fulfill our own selfish desires and dishonor His name. Yet, so often that’s how we live our lives.

  1. He raises up rulers good and bad for His glory. “For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.”  Romans 9:17.  God did not raise up Pharaoh to be ruler of Egypt because Pharaoh was pleasing in His sight.  As a matter of fact, Pharaoh proved to be quite the opposite.  Yet, God allowed Him to rule simply that He might display His mighty works in the great Exodus and receive the glory.

  1. He saves us from destruction for His glory.  Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.”  Psalms 106:7-8   “For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.2 Kings 19:34. “For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.   Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.”  Isaiah 48:9-11.  God will rescue us out of our mess, not because of us, but because of Him.  This is how my mind sees it, God is saying, “You faithless, doubtful, ungrateful of my mercies children.  Based upon how you treat me I ought to zap you out, but because my glory trumps your foolishness I’m gonna rescue you out of your mess.”  Merciful God!

  1. He forgives us of our sins for His glory. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”  Isaiah 43:25.  Now that’s deep!

The list could go on and on.  Do you see it?  Do you understand what God wants from you?  In every situation in our life, every trial we encounter, in everything that we do, we must seek God’s glory. So how do we do it?  How do we give God the glory in the good and the bad times?  It’s simple, the book of Psalms tells us that we should praise, give thanks, and sing. Psalms 86:12 and Psalms 96:1-9.  In my moments of greatest despair, my spirits were and are lifted when I give God glory.

I pray that you are blessed.  Please share your thoughts on this topic below and share the post with others.  Remember, through Christ we can all live extraordinary lives!  Hallelujah!!!
