5 Reasons Why You Must Know Your Worth

You’ve Got to Know Your Worth

Do you struggle with knowing your value and worth? Do you wrestle with low self esteem? Well, unfortunately when you don’t know your worth you experience less than God’s best for your life. Low self esteem and unrecognized worth tend to lead to bad relationships, the inability to reach your potential, bad decision making, unhappiness and a host of other problems.

Yet, these traps created by the enemy can be avoided when you began to recognize your value and your true worth.  When you know who you are and see yourself as God sees you, then you naturally begin to operate differently.  But to do this you must first change your mindset and recognize how valuable you truly are.

How Do You Determine Your Worth?

The easiest way to determine your worth is by determining how much someone would pay for you.  I know it sounds crazy, but stick with me.  In our society price tags tend to determine value.  So what is your price tag?

Now before you begin to pull out your mental calculator let me set your mind at ease.  You’re priceless.  There is no number you can come up with that amounts to the value that you are worth.  And this is because no price can be put on the One who gave His life to purchase you.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:20

God, the God of the universe, saw so much value and worth in you that He was willing to risk everything and give up His life to purchase you.  Woo child! You are priceless! Yet, despite this truth, many people still don’t know their worth.

Why You Don’t Know Your Worth

The main reason you don’t know your true worth is because the enemy, the devil, doesn’t want you to know it.  Because individuals who know their true value and worth in Christ automatically become a threat to him.  They become less susceptible to the lies and traps he tries to ensnare them in.  Which is why he works over time to try to get you to devalue yourself and to not recognize your worth, and he does it in two different ways.

Negative Messaging

One method he uses is negative messaging. Your self esteem is directly impacted by your thoughts and your thoughts are impacted by the messages your brain receives. So if you are constantly receiving negative messages about yourself, your thoughts tend to fall in line, and you begin to believe those negative messages.

Which is why the devil does his best to pour negative messages into your brain.  Messages that say, you aren’t smart enough, you aren’t pretty enough, you aren’t worthy enough.  And He does this through the words he whispers into your subconscious and through the words he causes others to speak to you.

Keeping You From The Truth

The second method the enemy uses, is to keep you from hearing the truth.  You see the easiest way to know your worth, is to find out what the One who created you has to say about you.  The word of God is the most valuable resource to help you recognize your worth and build your self-esteem because it tells you the truth about you John 8:32

Yet so many people are mentally crippled because they don’t know the value that the God of the universe has placed upon them.  This is because the enemy works to keep them from this life changing truth.  Without question God’s word is the key to knowing your true worth.  Which is why I’m giving you access to a FREE printable download filled with powerful scriptures which reveal your true worth. These scriptures tell you the truth about who you are and what you can do through Christ. You can access it at the bottom of this post.

5 Things That Will Happen When You Realize Your Worth

There are so many benefits that come from knowing your worth, benefits that you can’t afford to miss out on.

You Will Experience Better Relationships

knowing worth better relationships

There is a sad scenario that occurs over and over again.  And it’s the scenario in which an individual keeps winding up in abusive relationships,  whether the abuse is mental or physical.  And despite their desperate desire to be free from these types of relationships they continually find themselves in them.

Now obviously this is not something that they want, but it something that their inability to know their worth attracts.  You see the value that you place upon yourself dictates the health of your relationships.  Whether the relationship is a love relationship,  a platonic relationship, a work relationship, or any other type of relationship, the value that you place upon yourself impacts that relationship.

When you know who you are in Christ, your value immediately skyrockets because you believe God and understand that you are a marvelous work made in the image of Christ.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Psalms 139:14.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

Knowing your true worth,  causes you to place the proper value upon yourself. Your standards are raised and you don’t allow people to treat you any kind of way.  There is a confidence that naturally begins to radiate from you, and this confidence acts as a deterrent for those who wish to devalue you and an attractant for those who believe in valuing others.

There is an amazing story about a woman who didn’t recognize her true value, but through the help of God overcame.  To find out about her surprising story check out the video below.

You Will Accomplish More

When you know your worth you develop an “I can” mentality.  This is a mentality that doesn’t listen to the naysayers or the voices in your own head that say, “you can’t.”  Instead it’s a mentality that embraces the truth found in God’s word that says “you can.”

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

You’re no longer scared to attempt things that have never been done before, or that seem too big for you to accomplish.  Instead you move forward in confidence knowing that you were created for good works and that God will complete the good work that He’s begun in you.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ… Philippians 1:6

And because you embrace the “I can” mentality, you push yourself to work harder and to operate in excellence.  By doing this you better position yourself to walk in and fulfill your purpose, reach your potential, and reap every blessing that comes from faithfully sowing the seeds of hard work.

You Will Make Better Decisions

The decisions that you make on a day to day basis have the power to determine your overall happiness and well being.  Yet, when you don’t know your worth you can find yourself saying yes to things that you need to be saying no to. Which is why knowing your worth will help you make wiser decisions.

You won’t be a people pleaser – When you know your worth you won’t easily fall into the trap of people pleasing.  Many times people say yes to things that they really want to say no to, simply because they are afraid of letting others down. Yet what they fail to realize is that they are letting themselves down by engaging in this behavior.

Knowing your worth gives you the confidence to prioritize you and say no to certain things.  You no longer fear how others will react in response to your decision to say no.  Instead your decisions are based off of principle and not the fear of letting others down.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

You won’t try to fit in – When you know your worth you won’t waste time trying to fit in with others.  You will decide to do what you want to do because it’s what you want to do.  Your decisions won’t be based off of what the crowd is doing in an attempt to fit in.  Instead you have confidence in knowing that you are of great worth and there is no need for you to try to fit into any place that’s not a natural fit for you.

You will take better care of you Making better decisions also impacts how you take care of you.  When you know your worth you recognize that you have a God given responsibility to take the greatest care of you as possible.  Think about the care and effort you would take in caring for a priceless jewel. Because you know it’s value you wouldn’t treat it any old kind of way.  Instead you would take extra precautions to make sure that nothing happens to it.

When you know your worth you understand that the same care is required for you, so you naturally begin to make better decisions.  Instead of engaging in behaviors that tear you down you choose to engage in activities that will build you up.  You say no to harmful substances, overeating, toxic people, and certain entertainment because you realize that you are just too valuable for those type of things.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

You Will Find Confidence in Being Uniquely You

knowing your value

When you know your worth you will embrace the uniqueness of who you are.  Every unique and quirky characteristic you posses you will celebrate.  You won’t compare yourself to others or try to suppress or modify your unique self in an effort to conform to society.  Instead you will find joy in simply being you.

You Will Be Happier

When you know your worth and the value you possess you will be happier.  Happiness doesn’t come from how much money you have, the clothes you wear, the house you live in, the car you drive, or how people perceive you.  True happiness comes from embracing who God called you to be so that you can fulfill His purposes for your life.  And the easiest way to do that is to know your worth and your value through Christ.
