How To Receive The Blessings of The Righteous

As I was studying the word of God I found out that there are some special things that God does for the righteous.  He blesses the righteous,  He surrounds them with favor, He hears their cries,  He delivers them from evil, and He doesn’t forsake them, just to list a few.  But how does one become righteous?

Being righteous is a hefty, hefty, task.  As a matter of fact, I’m not sure if any of us could truly be righteous since the Bible says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  So how do we become righteous?  Well thankfully our righteousness is not determined by our works.  In Romans chapter 4, Paul tells us that Abraham believed God and it was imputed unto him for righteousness.  Which causes me to believe that although we are not in and of ourselves righteous, we can be considered righteous based upon our belief system.

Romans 4:17-22 outlines two specific reasons as to why Abraham’s belief was counted unto him as righteousness.  The first thing was that Abraham forgot about the facts.  The fact was he was 100 years old, the fact was, as the bible puts it, his body was dead meaning he lacked the ability to reproduce, and the fact was that Sarah’s womb was dead.  To sum it all up the facts said there was no way in the world Sarah and Abraham could conceive a child. Those were the facts.  But the Bible says in Romans 4:19 that Abraham didn’t consider the facts.  Meaning he didn’t spend his time focusing on all the circumstances surrounding his situation because if he did it would shake his faith.

The second thing that caused Abraham to be considered righteous was the fact that he was fully persuaded that what God had promised He was able to perform.  He didn’t believe it a little bit nor did he allow doubt to come in here and there.  The Bible says he was fully persuaded which means he was 100% convinced that God would do what He said He would do.  He was fully persuaded!

And because of these two things Abraham possessed an unshakeable faith that God was able to count unto him for righteousness.  And this is the exact type of faith that God wants you to have.  You see, God has no problem pouring out blessings, but there are certain special blessings that are reserved for those who are considered righteous because of their faith.  So why don’t you join me as I strive to forget about the facts and be fully persuaded that God can do what He says!
