The One Thing You Must Do To Ensure That 2018 Is Your Best Year Yet!

The year 2017 has come to an end and hopefully it was an amazing year for you.  Yet, whether 2017 was amazing or not so amazing, 2018 can and should be even better than 2017. However this is not something you can leave to chance.  The only way that you can make sure that 2018 is your best year ever is by making sure that you are your best you ever.  Now to do this you are going to have to make some changes in your life.  Yet before you start making changes there is something crucial that you’ve got to do first.

When I was a grad student I remember receiving back my exams after they had been graded by my professors. I would then look at my score and exam the exam.  It wasn’t enough for me just to know my score, I needed to know what it was I got wrong and what it is I got right, what concepts I had mastered and what concepts I had yet to master.  By examining the exam I knew exactly what areas I needed to focus my attention on so that I could do better overall in the course.

You see knowing the score wasn’t enough I needed to know the why and this is the same approach we must take with our lives. In Haggai 1:5-7 God says, “Consider your ways.  Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put into a bag with holes.  Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways!” God is saying, stop doing the same old stuff and examine your life!  Why is it that you put a lot of work into something but see little results?  Why is it that you’re earning a decent salary but you have nothing to show for it? Why is it that He has blessed you with 24 hours in a day but you seem to only make good use of  two? Why?

Maybe it’s time that you consider your ways and examine your life.  Simply knowing the scores of your life isn’t enough.  To say that on a scale of 1-10 your marriage is a 5, your job satisfaction is a 4, your financial situation is an 8, or your relationship with God is a 3, isn’t going to work. You’ve got to take the time to examine every area of your life and figure out the whys.  Because when you figure out the why, you are then better able to identify the exact steps you need to take to raise your scores to a 10.

So the first thing you must do is set aside a few hours in which you can be alone to examine your life and consider your ways.  Reflect upon your relationships, your spirituality, your career, your health, your finances, and even your level of happiness.  Determine the areas in which you are winning and the ones in which you are losing. Then identify the things you can do to improve in those areas.

Trust me when I say God only wants the best for you this year.  So don’t disappoint Him, examine your ways and make the necessary adjustments today!  God bless.
